EFCC arrests two men with N45M worth fake notes

Two men; Badamasi Sule and Muhammad Muhammad have been arrested by operatives of the Abuja Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC after they were caught in possession of fake naira notes worth about 45 million.

In a statement released by the anti-graft agency both men were said to have been arrested in December of last year following investigations and gathering of intelligence which led to the busting of a money doubling syndicate ring. The group reportedly specialized in printing #1000 notes.

Both men were also caught with fake dollar notes.

Investigations by the EFCC also exposed more damning evidence against the the two men as two “Ghana-must-go bags” were found in their possession containing the N1,000 notes which were about to be put into circulation.

Their primary targets are bureaux de change operators, and unsuspecting members of the public. The syndicate is believed to be operating from Gashua, Yobe State, with its dispatch lodge being a hotel located in Abacha Estate, close to the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja.

They will soon be arraigned in court. Follow us on Twitter and on Facebook
