Female pastor lands in Port-Harcourt prison after being charged to court by EFCC for N23million scam

A Pastor Mercy Daniel Ogbonaya have been remanded to the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre after she was convicted by Justice I. M. Sani for a N23million scam, following her arrest and arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The female pastor who was arraigned on a charge of obtaining money by false pretence contrary to Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act, was remanded in prison on Thursday January 23.

“Justice I. M. Sani of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has remanded Mercy Daniel Ogbonaya, a pastor, in Port Harcourt Correctional Centre for obtaining money by false pretence contrary to Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.” the EFCC’s statement read.

“The defendant was arraigned by the Port Harcourt Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today Thursday January 23, 2020 on one count charge.”
