Lagos explosion: Death toll hits 23

The toll within the last Sunday’s explosion which  took place at Ado-Soba, Abule-Ado in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State has climb to twenty-three following the death of 1 of the survivors of the incident today.

The victim a female has been under treatment at the Igbobi Orthopedic Hospital before she met her end this  weekend... Following the explosion, a sum total of 500 people are displaced while 100 of them are accommodated within the state relief camp.

 Recall that the aftermath of the sad ordeal resulted in an exceedingly number of individuals being declared missing within the yet to be determined the reason for the blast which shook the state within the early hours of the fateful day with a never before seen level of waste laying.

Earlier, rescuers had recovered a complete number  of twenty-two bodies, including males and females bringing the overall number of deaths recorded up to now to 23, with the newest death.

 The General- Director- of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the newest dead, which had been under medical treatment since Sunday.

Dr Femi  Oke-Osanyintolu, “condition report regarding the explosion at the previously mentioned location which took place on Sunday 15th March 2020. Update as of 21st March, 6:00 pm.

 “We regret to inform that the morbidity from the explosion has ascended to twenty-three with the death of a female victim who had been receiving treatment at the Igbobi Orthopedic Hospital.

 A  total of 500 people are displaced from their homes and 100 of them are accommodated within the LASEMA relief camp,”

He pleaded with the Lagos residents to remain calm, ” Our help desk remains manned and personnels are always available to receive  inquiries and arrange transfer to the relief camp for those rendered homeless by the explosion.

We appeal for calm and urge members of the  general public to stay off the scene and to be law-abiding,” he said
