Agege Mosque sealed hours after Lagos Covid-19 taskforce was attacked at the site

The Lagos State Government has shut the Agege Central Mosque after some worshippers on Wednesday April 1st, attacked members of the State COVID-19 Taskforce mandated to monitor and enforce compliance against public gatherings exceeding 25 people.

The taskforce team acting on a tipoff, stormed the mosque to stop the prayer session but were rather attacked by the over 300 Muslims praying in the mosque.

The state government today moved in and sealed off the mosque. Lagos state currently has the highest number of coronaviruses cases in the country and the state has been under a state and federal lock down for the past one week.
