Lampard Reveals Who Chelsea’s Eighth Summer Signing Will Be After Havertz Transfer

Chelsea completed the signing of Kai Havertz on Friday night, following weeks of negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen.

And now Blues boss Frank Lampard is keen to bring in a top-level goalkeeper now that a £90million deal for Havertz is over the line.

Chelsea have paid an initial club record fee of £72m for the 21-year-old midfielder in a deal that has taken their summer spending beyond £200m.

Havertz signed a five-year contract and has become Frank Lampard’s seventh summer signing.

Havertz said: “Of course he [Lampard] had a big impact on my decision because I loved him as a player and watched him very often, and I think I can learn from him now he is a manager as well.

I think he is a very humble person and a great guy and I can’t wait to play with him and learn from him.

“He was very offensive like me and he loves to score goals, and I love to score goals as well so I think he will help me a lot in my position. Also maybe on the things that I can improve and I can’t wait to work with him.”

The Stamford Bridge club have already signed Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva, as well as signing Malang Sarr and bringing in teenager Xavier Mbuyamba from Barcelona.

Now Lampard will focus his attention on Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Lampard lost faith in Kepa Arrizabalaga last term and his keen to bring in another option between the sticks.

The 28-year-old will become Chelsea’s eighth summer signing if Lampard can strike a deal.
