Adama Traore Arrives Spain Training Camp, Officially Dumps Mali

Adama Traore Spain Training Camp

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore has reportedly arrived at Spain’s training camp as they prepare for three upcoming international matches.

He had been named in the Spain squad on Friday by coach Luis Enrique, just three days after also being called up by Mali.

The 24-year-old, who was born in Barcelona to Malian parents, has been targeted by the two federations over the past 18 months.

Traore can still represent either nation as he has not yet played senior international football.

If Traore plays in either of Spain’s European Nations League qualifiers against Switzerland on 10 October or Ukraine three days later he would no longer be able to switch allegiances to Mali.

However at last month’s FIFA annual congress, following a proposal by the Moroccan Football Federation, players can now switch if they have played no more than three matches at senior level, with all the appearances coming before the player turns 21.
