Barcelona Up Ansu Fati’s £154m Release Clause For Man United

Barcelona Ansu Fati’s £154m Release Clause

Barcelona are understood to be keen to tie Ansu Fati down for the long-term after reports emerged that Manchester United were interested in the teenage sensation.

However, it was reported this week that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had attempted to trigger Fati’s £154m clause.

According to RouteOneFootball, the Red Devils who are currently negotiating deals for Jadon Sancho and Alex Telles made the blockbuster move, but did not realise that it had already been upped to £363m.

Fati is under contract until 2022, but Barca can extend his deal until 2024 after paying him a lump sum.

Jorge Mendes took over as the Spaniard’s agent recently, and local reports have suggested that he will be able to get Fati out of such an extension, allowing him to leave on a free in 2022.

The Nou Camp outfit were faced with a similar proposition this summer with Lionel Messi, who looked to force his way out, but backed down on legal grounds.

And Barca don’t want to find themselves in the same situation with Fati, according to ESPN.
